More than fifty years ago, when I started collecting, and sometimes trying to write bits of humor, such as jokes, anecdotes, funny verse, cartoons, and epigrams. In the course of selling this type of material to publishers of house organs, newsletters, small newspapers and magazines, I branched out into other kinds of fillers; i.e., items editors could use to fill the blank part of a page in their publication. So, not everything in what appears to be a book of humor is funny. We have, however, tried to collect items which are inspirational, uplifting or entertaining. We make no apologies for those items we wrote ourselves. When one has a deadline, it has to be met.Upon retirement, with no more deadlines to meet, computers just starting to simplify rewriting, and desktop publishing becoming affordable, I started a little publication we call The Funny Paper. Its avowed purpose is to encourage budding authors of all ages to become published authors by writing humor and other kinds of filler material. Sixty-one editions later, we realized that in our files we had a golden treasury. We needed a title, and we found one, tucked away in the recesses of our memory. Jest For The Halibut is dedicated to all those who write, try to write, or want to write, and especially to those who have had attained some success with humor This is the kind of book that should be in every library.

PDF⋙ Solid Hydrogen: Theory of the Properties of Solid H2, HD, and D2 by Jan Kranendonk

Solid Hydrogen: Theory of the Properties of Solid H2, HD, and D2 by Jan Kranendonk Solid Hydrogen: Theory of the Properties of Solid H2, HD, and D2 by Jan Kranendonk PDF, ePub eBook D0wnl0ad The solid molecular hydrogens are the simplest and most fundamental molecular solids. Except at ultrahigh pressures on the order of a few mega bars, where a transition to a metallic, atomic phase is expected, these solids are true molecular crystals in which the molecules retain their identity with properties not too different from those of the free molecules. At energies below the electronic excitation energy, the thermal and spectroscopic pro perties of these solids are determined by the translational, rotational, and intramolecular vibrational motions of the interacting molecules. The theo retical analysis of the solid-state properties in terms of the free molecules and the intermolecular interactions forms the main topic of this book. The available detailed knowledge of the properties of the...
